ジョブズが亡くなった。
しばらくは僕も、世界もショックから立ち直れそうにはない。

もし今もジョブズが健在ならと考えると、失った未来はとてつもなく大きなものだと思うが、一方で、彼はきっと全てやりきったのだという思いもある。

ジョブズ復帰後のAppleは本当に考えられないような勢いでヒットプロダクトを連発した。PCの在り様を定義し、現代の音楽の楽しみ方を確立し、モバイルデバイスを再定義し、そして今のWeb社会を創造したのは半分くらいは彼の功績だと思う。

残念ながら彼のささやかな願いは叶わなかったが、最後の数年はまさに自分の死期を悟ったかのような輝きを我々に見せてくれた。

彼自身が"old"となるには余りに早すぎる気がしないでもないが、これはジョブズから我々へのバトンだ。彼は自らの人生をかけて我々のために素晴らしい道を創り上げてくれた。次は僕たちの番だ。

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

 僕達に与えられた時間も長くはない。自分の為すべきことは何なのか、今一度見つめ直してみようと思う。彼のようにはなれなくても、彼のような偉業は成せなくても、せめてその心構えだけは彼の教えの通りにありたいと心から願う。
